Wearable device shipments in Europe reached 13.4 million units in Q2 2019, up 154.4 percent year-on-year, according to IDC. The European market for wearables is forecast to reach 72.8 million units in 2020, with earwear accounting for 50 percent and watches for 33 percent. Total market value is expected to reach USD 14 billion in Europe in 2022, according to Telecompaper.
The latest IDC Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker shows that earwear accounted for 52.3 percent of shipments in Europe in Q2 2019, followed by watches with 26.7 percent and wristbands with 20.7 percent.
The top 5 markets in the region in Q2 were the UK, France, Germany, Russia and Italy, with Western Europe accounting for 80 percent of shipments in the region. The Eastern European region grow by 215.9 percent year-on-year, with Western European shipments growing by 144.9 percent from Q2 2018, according to Telecompaper.
