Deutsche Telekom tests 5G uplink at Berlin marathon

Deutsche Telekom said that it has successfully tested the 5G uplink during the Berlin marathon, according to Telecompaper. Together with Infront Productions, Telekom has tested broadcasting of television images through 5G as part of live coverage. At the Berlin Marathon, it was possible to use TV pictures via the commercial 5G network of Telekom in the district of Berlin Schoneberg.

Telekom had optimised some 5G locations for the video upload, and 5G smartphones were used as modems on professional cameras. The test in Berlin confirmed that stable transmission of camera signals for professional TV productions at 50 frames per second over 5G is possible. In addition, selected users have captured their own personal images via 5G smartphones, according to Telecompaper.
